Late each fall, a biologist/photographer friend, Blaine Rothauser(who turned me on to this...), myself, & a couple of friends make an annual pilgrimage to a bat cave just before they settle in for the winter. It is an experience beyond description to have these amazing rodents whizzing past your ears in total darkness. They come so close you can feel the breeze from their wingbeats, yet they never touch you, truly some of nature's more competent pilots...
