This little guy had drifted off to sleep in the warm sun on a cold day. He hadn't counted on the tide going _way_ out. When I first spotted him in the distance on the N. Beach at Sandy Hook, I mistook him for driftwwod. As I got closer & realized it was a seal, I fully expected to find it decaying & covered w/ flies. I walked right up to him, he slowly opened those big, sleepy puppy dog eyes, blinked a few times, and I started walking backward as fast as I could! Not because the seal was in any way upset that I was there. On the contrary, I was six feet from him with about 650mm of lens! One of the two or three times I've ever had too much optics ;-). Boy, was he cute.
