The Swamp Darner

For my money, the 747 of dragonflies, at least in this corner of Wild Suburbia. This thing was HUGE, a photo doesn't do it's size any justice. Even more amazing, it was a pet! By that, I mean it just hung out on this phragmites like a bunch of grapes, while I stared at it in amazement from literally inches away. I think I could have stroked it's head if I tried... A very, very cool insect.
